Hawaii bikinis are the quintessential look.  These floral designs with flowers or palm trees are famous and have represented the traditional Hawaii bikinis for years.  When looking for a Hawaii inspired bikini you must consider what will be flattering to the figure.  Too many Hawaii prints are loud and obnoxious.  Tropical inspiration is sexy and hot, but not when it makes you look like a tacky tourist.  A more subtle Hawaii accent looks the best.

When looking for the original Hawaii style bikini follow these simple tips.  Look for bikinis that have a fair amount of plain, non print fabric to them.  Such designs make the body look slenderized.  Solid neutral or vibrant colors look the most flattering on women carrying extra weight.  Solids help make you look skinny.  This Hawaii bikini is the perfect example of the right amount of Hawaiian influence.  The design is total Hawaii inspiration yet subtle and subdued.

Remember that the solid color bikini lets the beauty of the girl shine through.  You want to wear the bikini not have the bikini wear you.  To enhance your natural beauty and feel your best pick a Hawaii bikini that has Hawaii accents rather than a print all over the entire bathing suit.

Whether you are lounging at the beach, partying at poolside, or catching waves, a solid base color bikini with a Hawaii accent will help you look and feel your best.  This bikini is gorgeous all the way around.  Notice that it is sexy and natural but not too skimpy.  It has sturdy halter ties and a well fitted bottom.  This bikini is perfect for the active, natural girl.  Notice her tan in this wonderful photograph and how it offsets nicely to the light color swimsuit.  Remember, apply a fake tan rather than lie out for a real tan to avoid burn and sun damage.  Do a spray on prior to heading out in the sun and wear plenty of sunscreen in the sun.  Love!

I saw an article on Estee Lauder limited edition bronze goddess capri collection on Spoilt by pink Diva. It’s an Australian lifestyle blog that features fashion and beauty. I couldn’t agree more than them on loving this photograph of Hilary Roda in a dazzling gold Bikini!

Estee Lauder

Warner weather inspires us to get bronzed and beautiful. Estee Lauder has a truly stunning collection of makeup that helps women capture the essence of summer with a suntan safe makeup. The colors are sun kissed and completely gorgeous. Foundation, nail polish, eye-shadows, bronzer and eye pencils all have summer shades of bronze, gold, brown, white and turquoise.

Hilary Rhada is so gorgeous as well! She is a younger version of Elizabeth Hurley for sure. Like Hurley she’s a stunning brunette chosen to represent Estee Lauder. Rhoda is so pretty that she also appeared as Sports Illustrated model. Her body is as incredible as her face and hair.  Try a gold swimsuit against a deeper sun-safe spray tan to get this luxe look.

I love this picture from Estee Lauder. The gold swimsuit is so flattering. Her animalistic hair and natural toned makeup is amazing. This is the kind of look you want to get from a combination of bronzer makeup and fake tan. Getting this tan naturally is a no-no and too damaging for the skin. But with makeup and tanner? Way to go!

This Shan swimsuit found on Polyvore is Barbarella inspired and cute!  With a rocker girl edge to it, the pattern is a different take on plain for sure.  Notice the slenderizing way this designer Shan worked the fabric.  At the outer sides along the hips the suit is black which slims the figure creating an hourglass illusion.  The wide swath with the white color swirled in covers the front belly.  It’s a very slenderizing look and a nice twist on a basic one piece. I love the hipster rocker, Gothic edge of this swimsuit. It is so, so far from fuddy duddy and the smart design hides a plethora of figure flaws as well!

This pattern would work nicely on a plus size women as well.  The design hides fat and bulge and there is ample coverage to the legs.  The black trimmed V-neck also draws eye focus upward which creates a slimming effect for bigger hips, thighs and legs.  It’s very flattering.  This one piece swimsuit is inspired by the Barbarella Jane Fonda look.  It’s animalistic and sexy.  You can find this swimsuit at the online store called Swimwear Boutique.  It was posted on Polyvore because it’s a great boutique design.

Plus size women tend to believe that a solid black swimsuit is the way to go.  That is not always the case however.  While solid colors are slenderizing if you are very large the expanse of solid black makes the weight even more obvious!  You don’t want to look like a black blob.  This suit does the trick because it has coverage yet has a youthful edge to it and the color is broken up. Shan swimwear has cute styles and this one which is actually from 2010 will stay in style for 2012 and 2013.

To break up a plus size body look for suits that have nice detailing or a muted design to them.  This black swimsuit with an edge is going to look far more slenderizing and fashionista than a loud plus size Hawaiian print would.  Remember if you are looking for a slenderizing suit you should plan on trying on at least 30 different swimsuits before selecting one.  Spend the time shopping as the right color, cut and style can make an enormous difference.
