The stormy shade of gray is flattering for all body types and a great alternative to the typical black swimsuit.  The black swimsuit is a comfort zone, but when you have a plus sized body and you wear an all black swimsuit without much skin showing, the look can be more like whale than anything else.  Black can be too much black, and it requires some skin to show to break up the harsh color.

Gray swimsuits

Gray on the other hand, is a little softer and easier on the eyes.  This is good news for the plus size woman as it creates a sleeker slimmer look.  You have so many options with black from light silver-gray to slate or pewter and charcoal gray.  Check out the different shades and see what flatters your skin tone and body the best.

This swimsuit shows that breaking away from the classic black swimsuit can be a good thing.  I found this swimsuit on Zilily.  Zulily features boutique finds and has adorable maternity swimsuits for women.  You can find great savings and new items every day featured on the Zulily website.

This gray swimsuit is sweet.  It is by Pez D’or called the black Maldivas maternity one-piece.  PezDor has been putting out premium maternity swimwear for years and their brand is featured on many swimsuit online stores.  Your baby bump will be well concealed here with this darker gray color and sweet bow to distract eye attention up.

Gray flatters a pear-shaped body

If you are bigger on the bottom and smaller on the top this figure concern is coined pear shape.  A gray swimsuit such as the one shown here can be very flattering on a pear-shaped body.  To balance out larger hips and bottoms look for wide-set straps and jeweled detail at the center of the suit that accent the chest.  This draws the eyes attention away from the lower body and upwards towards the check area which gives you a surgery free body-lift effect.

Gray swimsuit is the new black swimsuit

I came across this slate gray swimsuit from the Australian swimwear store called Sequins & Sand.  Very cute metallic material.  Gray can be a great alternative to black for a slenderizing look.  I like the smooth clean lines of this metallic gray swimsuit.  The bandeau top looks adorable on her.  Notice how she is a good size girl yet she looks sleek, healthy and just beautiful in this swimsuit.

Plus size with a great chest? Try a bandeau style in a solid color

Strapless swimsuits for plus size women can be tricky however some plus size women have great chests and can pull this bandeau style off.  If your chest is naturally perky this plus size swimsuit look can be fantastic. Too much assets however, would be better off tucked into a swimsuit with supportive halter straps.

Exercise caution when shopping out of country

The great thing about shopping online is you can find swimsuits from different countries around the world!  Be careful though.  Always shop at reputable stores and do google searches to check out the reputation of any online web site you purchase at.  You are after all entering your credit card number when making a purchase and that puts you at risk.  Remember as well that buying swimsuits from far away can become problematic if you find out that you need to make a return.  What if it does not fit?  You need a store with a solid toll free help number and a detailed return policy.  If you can’t contact them easily from the US, don’t enter your credit card.  Call first to see if you get through, and google search the store before buying.

Sequins & Sand features kaftan’s, swimwear, plus size swimwear, beach wear, clothing, and accessories.  If you are too scared to purchase swimwear from out of the country you can still surf the sites and look for ideas!  Remember to shop extensively for a swimsuit and once you find one that looks great on you consider it well worth the investment.  Feeling beautiful and comfortable in your swimsuit is essential.  You want to find that swimsuit that you feel fabulous in because how you feel counts for everything.  Happy swimsuit shopping XOXO.

Austrailian Swimwear

This South Beach Solids faux-wrap swimsuit designed by Kenneth Cole New York teaches a lesson in figure slimming.  Now looking at this swimsuit on a hanger it would look rather boring and even bulky.  But if you tried it on, it might look nice.  Any swimsuit with a wrap around sash-ed waist is going to do wonders for a big tummy and/or love handles.  It totally hides, conceals and smooths them down.

If you’re flat chested but at the same time have a tummy or love handles to conceal, then buying a swimsuit can be tricky.  The plunging neck line looks great on a flat chested woman.  You can make a flat chest look incredibly sexy in a one piece with a plunging neckline.  But if you add to that a pudgy tummy or big hips, a skimpy plunge neck suit can show all the bulges if the fabric is smooth.  That’s where this suit comes in.  The neckline is cute but the body has the faux wrap around material that hides pudgy.  The solid one color in the darker gray is great too as an alternative to black.  That’s why Kenneth Cole does so well, their ideas are right on!

Ladies if you are flat chested with tummy or hip pudge then look for a plunging v-neck swim suit that has a sashed, ruched, faux or real wrap around waist.  It will make your smaller chest look incredibly sexy, hide your lower body flaws and you’ll look and feel great overall in this type of swimsuit style.
