There are certain classic clothes that really never go out of style.  You know, like hanes classic bikini panties, white tank tops, and of course, the quintessentially classic white bikini.

Classic white bikini

Usually you see the string tie bikini as the ultimate classic, but this particular bikini as worn by celebrity Blake Lively has a slightly different look.  It’s a clean line look with no strings, no ties, no distractions.  Just a polished triangle top and a bikini bottom with narrow sides. Few women can wear a white bikini because for one thing, it reveals everything  and for another thing, if there is insufficient lining it is going to become quite see-through when wet.  Obviously is you have a rockin body you can pull off the look.  But there are a few fashion tips to be gleaned from this cool classic look.

For a classic swimsuit look, keep it simple and adornment free

If you are a women that believes in natural beauty, you should love the concept of keeping things very simple.  The idea is that you wear a clean and simple looking bikini or one piece in a solid color.  No frills, hardware, ties, or distractions.  Just a nice fit, no adornments.  This approach mutes the bikini and its all about the person wearing it.   Simple can be very sexy.

For a classic swimsuit look, opt for classic cut and pattern

Classic looks are what never goes out of style.  A man shirt, white underwear, a white tank top, a pair of jeans, the black dress.  Reach for the classics and you will automatically look sleek and sophisticated.  Trendy can look downright busy if you aren’t careful.  If you have a tendency to clash, mismatch or have ever been declared a fashion don’t by your friends or family, never fear.  Reach for clean, classic, simple looks and your style will be timeless.  With the classic, you just can’t go wrong.

For a classic swimsuit look, keep it one color

For a slenderizing look, a solid color swimsuit in a primary color works wonders.  That means white, black, grey, brown, beige, red, blue.  Solid vibrant colors really pop and create a great visual for a swimsuit wearer.  If you have a natural golden skin tone, try a color that creates a good contrast to your skin tone.  White on a golden tan is highly complimentary.  Black with paler skin can create a stunning effect.  The color red really pops.  Classic colors can seem boring when compared to prints, but they always look great on the body.

For a classic streamlined look, choose a bikini or simple maillot bathing suit that has a simple style, a classic cut, in a solid color.  A classic white bikini is the perfect example of keeping it simple.  This look is simple yet so powerful.  It is the bikini’s enduring ability to deliver a big impact and strong social & fashion statement that makes it a design icon.  This look packs a lot of punch for such a small expanse of material.

74% of men like the classic string triangle top and string tie bikini bottom as compared to 93% of men that prefer the standard two piece swimsuit on a woman.  Basically, more men prefer a bit more body coverage.  The reason is that the string bikinis can get too revealing.  Therefore, to keep your bikini attractive to men make sure it isen’t too skimpy.  You can not flop out of the bikini.  That means, no bulging over flowing cleavage and no bottoming out below the triangle top either.  Look for a nice fitting string tie top like the one shown here and men will prefer it.

This Solid Wonders triangle string bikini in lavender was found at Laila Brand.  It is the classic string bikini yet not quite as skimpy as the micro bikinis you often see.  You should strive for this look.  Remember that men voted to like classic two pieces and bandeau bikinis even more than the skimpy string bikini.  Therefore, when you opt for the string bikini be sure to get one that has a little bit more body coverage as men prefer it.  Don’t get itsy bitty sized triangles or thong bottoms unless you have a Hawaiian Tropic model bikini body.

The reason men like the classic two piece more than the string bikini you ask?  Because string bikinis leave too little to the imagination.  It’s fine for a sexy magazine shoot but in real life men don’t really like it to all hang out.  In some string bikini styles you can literally see every little detail of the female figure.  If your figure is not perfect in such a suit, it shows.  Skimpier string bikinis reveal the outlines of the body quite clearly leaving little mystery or intrigue.  More coverage equals more mystery.  This lavender string tie bikini covers while still staying true to the classic string tie bikini style.  That’s why it’s a men love it, women love too swimsuit.

I’ve come across several magazine articles where men rate swimsuit styles and fashion trends. Surprisingly, men don’t like the micro bikinis because they leave little to the imagination. For girlfriend material, they unanimously like a bikini with some moderate coverage, such as this one.

When fashion trends are rated, men often abhor them. But one trend they don’t abhor is the off the shoulder look. Surprisingly, they think its plenty feminine and sexy.  So this suit wins a double whammy since it has the moderate coverage men love along with the sexy shoulder fashion trend men love.  Not sure if the shoulder strap comes off completely however you can always take it off the one shoulder and use the top as a basic bandeau when suntanning.

The cutouts add a little sexy suggestion to this black bikini without revealing too much skin. In addition to the cutouts the network element is black netting material that give the suit edgy texture and intrigue. The black strings are like basketball netting and it appears on the shoulder and hip which is hard to see in this photograph. It looks so hot!

The only serious problem with the one shoulder bikini or one piece swimsuit is that the tanning can be horrible. Wear plenty of sunscreen with this suit or sit in the shade. You don’t want a one shoulder tan. Definitely do not wear this suit to lie out in the sun days before you don your shoulder baring wedding dress!  Other than the potential tanning issue, it rocks!

This suit was featured on South Beach Swimsuits.  It’s a Becca 2012 network bikini. It has one shoulder strap with removable cups and adjustable removable swim strap and boning.  The bottom matches the top in styling and has the network detail and cutouts as well on the hip. This was one of the best sellers of 2011 and it carried over into 2012 as a keeper in the Becca line.
