kiyonna-plus-size

Watch out ladies, because swimsuit season rapidly approaching. The stress of shopping for the perfect suit is overwhelming so start shopping early and allow plenty of times to look around. Luckily for plus size ladies, designers and retailers are beginning to cater to larger and realistic sizes more and more.

Plus size designers

Take this swimsuit from Kiyonna swimwear. Kiyonna is designing a select few fashionable, sexy, on-trend swimsuits for the plus size woman. The key to these designs are figure flattering features which include supportive straps, mesh power panels that line the swimsuit, sexy necklines, moderate coverage and adjustable straps.

This adorable purple plus size suit was featured on Examiner as a perfect style for the plus size lady and I have to agree. She looks colorful, playful, and even vintage inspired. Note how it is a solid color which slenderizes yet the color itself is bright, summery and playful. A great change-up on the typical black swimsuit that plus size ladies reach for. Beautiful for her curvy style figure!

multicolor-tropical

I adore this tropical mult-color inspired bikini!  While I do not have the purchase reference for this swimsuit (might be Victoria’s Secret), I do wish to post it because it is so wonderful!  What I love about this bikini is that the bikini sets the mood.

The bikini sets the mood

Think about how you want to feel and what mood you want to set when looking for a bikini or swimsuit. Do you want to look sweet? natural? happy? sophisticated? demure? sulty? Try to find a swimsuit that speaks to your mood and you’ll look incredible wearing it.

When I see this bikini I think fun, frolicking, beachy, sunny, tropical, carefree, playful, bright, happy, free, style, and unique.  It brings up a great point when it comes to choosing that bikini.  The bikini can literally set the mood for you.  This bikini is happy and fun.  I love the bright colors and I love that it screams colorful without having to be neon or floral.

Free body contouring with the bandeau top detail

The bandeau top is gorgeous on her and has the interesting kris-cross over in front which puts the attention in the right place!  The bandeau detail and the interesting necklace she is wearing make the onlookers eyes focus on the top part of her body.  This is a great attention focus trick that slenderizes the bottom.  If you have hips, thighs, cellulite or stomach pudgy always remember that bait and switch works.  Attract attention upwards and give yourself free body lift with the focus going upwards.

Attitude is everything and this girl has the perfect summer fun spirit

Her biggest accessory is her infectious smile. I love the fun orange beach bag that she has, and the cool jewelry.  The little cloth friendship bracelets and silver rings are perfect for a fun summers day.  Note her cute cat-eye sunglasses protect her eyes but look totally adorable.  Love the casual sunlit beach hair too.  She looks like a free spirit.  She looks like someone you would want to spend the day with.  Her happiness is inspiring.   A quintessential summer look.  High scores for this swimsuit!

nasty-gal-swimwear

Up and coming clothing designer and manufacturer Nasty-Gal is putting out some pretty cute mod and retro looking swimsuits for the chic girl.  Don’t be put off by the name Nasty-Gal.  While the name sounds naughty, this designer is selling over 100 million dollars a year in apparel and even companies like Urban Outfitters are taking notes.

Nasty Gal

The owner of Nasty-Gal started out selling used vintage clothes on Ebay and steadily but quickly worked her way up to the stratosphere in sales.  Now she has a gigantic warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and an army of workers and investors behind her.  The way she nailed it when it came to being a trendsetter clothing label was in going for the name Nasty (who would have thought that would go over well) and putting together hip and stylish fashions both vintage and new but vintage inspired.  She picks what she likes, and then sells it.

Vintage inspired fashion

This 80’s-inspired neon pink and green swimsuit is called The Bridget.  It is featuring black lace panels and cutout back in conjunction with standout neon colors. The tie closure at the back is thick like a big bow, and made of stretch fabric. This swimsuit is unlined with an open back. The site describes it as – looks rad paired with circle sunnies and cutoffs! This swimsuit is designed by Tavik, a reputable designer brand.

One thing about these NastyGal swimsuits is that you do need a good body to rock them.   Some are unlined, and their return policy is restricted with some items being not returnable at all.  The prices are not cheap, as this swimsuit is $125.00 at the NastyGal online store.  Spending on fashion trends requires nerves of steel and a good body that can pull off most looks.

The material is Nylon/Lycra spandex blend.  This model is seen in a size small, and the swimsuit only comes in xs, s and m sizes.  The Bridget runs true to size, should be hand washed in cold to preserve the lace, and is made in the USA.  Sale items may not be returnable.  All that being said, this swimsuit exemplifies the hot vintage look, albeit a tad obnoxious with the out there neon.

For the hot girl that dares to be edgy

You have to be a certain type of rocker or club girl to wear NastyGal because it doesn’t look like your typical or classic swimsuit.  But to be edgy, you have to be different, and Nasty-Gal definitely pulls this off.  I think their swimsuits are chosen to make a fashion statement more than for slenderizing or figure flattering.  Still, a really fashion forward suit from Nasty-Gal will no doubt turn heads.  If you were young, hot, and loaded with money, this would definitely be your cup of tea!  I like Nasty-Gal merchandise a lot for 20-something girls.
