You would think that men would dislike one piece fashion, but in a recent magazine article I read that it’s a trend they actually like.  When it comes to fantasizing men might like the girl in the micro bikini, but when it comes to their girlfriends, men like a swimsuit that is classy, sexy, provides coverage and leaves a little bit to the imagination.  The all time favorite is a two piece bikini with moderate coverage but we know that some women just won’t go there.  If you have some flaws through the body and won’t don a two piece then consider a one piece sweet heart style suit.

Off the shoulder suits are actually rather attractive on women!  The downside is that there are obvious tanning consequences to wearing such a suit.  You should be pale and against the sun or wear ten tons of sunscreen with this suit because you definitely don’t want a ridiculous one shoulder tan!  As long as you’re prepared to hang in the shade or keep your skin protected, this suit rocks.  Designed by Calvin Klein, it’s a pebble print one shoulder swimsuit.  The pebble print looks exotic without the brash tackiness of a leopard print or reptile print.  This is more of a stone natural theme.  It’s pretty and the best thing about it is that the lines are clean and sleek.

The pattern here will hide tummy and hip bulge wonderfully, while drawing attention upward with the one shoulder strap up top.  The one shoulder styling, abstract flaw hiding pebble print, and ruched side detail for concealing fat and slenderizing make this suit very flattering.  The square strap accent is classy and this suit is well constructed with an interior shelf bra and full lining.  If you’re looking for something classy and chic that hides flaws through the tummy, waist and hip area then look no further.  You can find it in black pebble stone color or neutral at Calvin Klein for summer 2012.

Are you needing to hide love handles in a swimsuit?  Love handles are centralized above the hip and around the waist line area.  This area normally is higher up on the body than what a two piece swimsuit can cover.  Likewise, a tankini does little good in concealing love handles, as tankini’s leave open the love handle area of the body.

To hide love handles the most practical trick is to wear a one piece swim suit.  But don’t make that one piece suit look like the frumpy plus sized loud flowered ones from the 1970’s.  This is 2012!  Pick a contemporary style so that it looks like you are wearing the suit because it’s a beautiful sexy swimsuit, not because its meant to hide your body flaws.

This swimsuit from Swimwear 360 is a great figure flattering example.  The interesting patterns make it fun, hip and youthful.  The solid color bank going down the center piece and then the abdominal panel of the lighter cream color give the illusion of a curvacious shape and a slimmer figure.  Notice that the side panels are darker and are going to be more effective in downplaying the love handles.

Another thing to notice here is that the orange faux bikini bottom gives the illusion of a two piece and more skin, even though she’s covered.  Again, the darker side panels downplay chub around the hips.  The low cut bust line and her earings also serve  as a distraction from the love handles.   Eyes are encouraged up towards her bust line and face.  This adorable swimsuit model definitely does not look old and frumpy in this one piece!

Ann Taylor Loft has partnered with Ann Cole, a very famous swimsuit designer, to debut a women’s swimwear collection. The swim suits are chic and figure flattering for women, with plenty of coverage.  These swimsuit styles are California inspired yet not too skimpy as to be unwearable if you have problematic areas to minimize.

This ruched one piece swimsuit by Anne Cole for Ann Taylor is one of my favorites. It’s sexy, yet has full coverage. This suit is perfect for a woman that has a belly or love handles that make her feel self conscious. The feminine ruching at the side seams and bra cup will detract from flab as it gives a naturally casual, loose styled look to the suit.  This is a style that will conceal some extra meat on your bones. The soft looking bust with the ruching and V-neck coordinates the style and makes the tummy slenderizing style appear pleasing.

I like the way they paired this one piece bathing suit with a textured necklace, to also draw focus away from figure flaws. Younger women that feel uncomfortable in a swimsuit will often avoid 100% ever being in a situation where they need to wear one.   Young adults with real figures feel that skimpy two pieces are unwearable for them and the one pieces are too elderly looking and frumpy.   This fresh color of soft purple and the figure flaw hiding style makes a suit wearable for such a young woman.

The only problem is getting her to try this swimsuits on if she is modest. Are you a woman who totally dreads swimsuits? What you don’t realize that you can find one that looks flattering but might have to really focus on fit and styling for your figure type. You have to be willing to shop extensively for the right bathing suit. The stores at the mall all have relatively small selections in swimear, so make sure to look at styles online and methodically canvas an entire mall when looking for the right suit.  Beach towns often have specialty swimsuit stores that offer more styles, although they are often the skimpier two piece ones.    Department stores have miracle styles for plus sized women but small selections so don’t expect to find the right suit at the very first place you go to.

You might have to look around for a swimsuit but the effort is worth it because as a woman you always want to have at least one swimsuit in your wardrobe.  A nice fitting swimsuit will last you a few years and there really are times where you need one.  Therefore, it is worth the time and misery you’ll have to invest shopping for one that looks good on you!
