I love swimwear fashion that takes design ideas from the corsets of the old days.  Corsets certainly do wonders for the figure as they cinch in the waist.  The effect creates a better waist to hip ratio which is a major factor of attraction for men.  Curvy is in.  Now perhaps you don’t want to be strung up too tight in a rib crushing lingerie number or bathing suit.  Relax you won’t suffocate because swimsuit styles that are based on the corset concept don’t need to be whale-bone rigid or rib crishing tight.  They come in soft materials too.

Some corset inspired swimsuits aren’t even true corsets.  They just incorporate design ideas from the classic corset style.  They might have ruching, a wrap-around torso, gathering at the waist, a belted waist, or merely give the illusion of a cinched waist.  If a swimsuit has sexy corset type string ties, hook and eye clasp closures, or just a cinched waist it can rock the sexy.  As long as the bathing suit has the overall effect of shrinking the waist either visually or physically, then a corset style swimsuit is working its magic.

This example corset inspired bandeau one piece from Zimmerman store is definitely corset and lingerie inspired.  The solid straps and psuodo ribbing effect visually zeros focus in on the waist effectively shrinking it.  It’s more forgiving than a real corset and made from soft material nevertheless is looks corset-like.  Also note the uplifting bra cups which is another vintage inspired statement.  Sexy!

Every woman, regardless of her body shape struggles to find that perfect swimsuit for her particular body.  Women tend to envy the girls with the slender straight figures, thinking that everything looks good on a trim body like that.  But they really shouldn’t be envious of that type of figure because this type of body has it’s own challenges just like any other figure.

The most common challenge is the lack of feminine curves.  Smaller flat breasts and a flat shapeless bottom can make  a girl feel like she isen’t sexy enough.  This is the girl who wants her swimsuit to make her look more shapely not less.  If you have a boyish, slender frame that lacks voluptuous curves a perfect bikini for you to try out is the classic string bikini.  The classic string bikini is a timeless look that never goes out of style, much like the little black dress.  The string ties on the classic string triangle top and at the sides of the classic string bikini bottom will add the illusion of more meat on your bones.

String bikinis are very unforgiving but if you have a slender body then it’s the suit that can really play that up and give the illusion of more body shape.  Try a classic plain vibrant color bikini such as white, black, red, or yellow.   If you aren’t built with a natural string bikini body though, never fear.  You should be aware that men get turned on by healthy, fit and voluptuous women.  It’s actually nice to have a good waist to hip ratio and a little bit of healthy curves.

A woman’s waist to hip ratio has long been touted as a measure of her physical appeal to men.  That means if you are slender you take advantage of this fact and try the string tie sides along with a bit of bra padding in the bikini top to make hips look wider, chest look fuller, and the body more curvy.  You’re using the swimsuit to create an illusion of more curves.  String ties and miracle tops can help do that.

If you’re overweight it means you look for swimsuits that are quite the opposite of the classic string tie bikini.  Instead, you go for bathing suits that conceal and bring in the waist with slimming fabric, darker colors, and vertical patterns.

Every woman has certain figure flaws that they are concerned about and slender figured ladies are no different.  A slender bodied woman is going to try and find a suit that accentuates her buttock and breasts to look more feminine, whereas a heavier woman is going to try and search for a swimsuit that downplays the excess bulge she has in undesirable areas.

Before getting jealous of the quintessential Ipanema girl just realize that every woman has to try on dozens of bikinis in order to find the style, colors and patterns that flatter her the most.  The best thing you can do to get ready for summer and maximize your innate attractiveness to men, is to be healthy.   Take care of yourself and maintain a healthy balance of muscle and fat.  Don’t worry about the string bikini girls and instead adopt sound eating habits and an active lifestyle.  Being healthy and shapely reigns supreme.

I’ve come across several magazine articles where men rate swimsuit styles and fashion trends. Surprisingly, men don’t like the micro bikinis because they leave little to the imagination. For girlfriend material, they unanimously like a bikini with some moderate coverage, such as this one.

When fashion trends are rated, men often abhor them. But one trend they don’t abhor is the off the shoulder look. Surprisingly, they think its plenty feminine and sexy.  So this suit wins a double whammy since it has the moderate coverage men love along with the sexy shoulder fashion trend men love.  Not sure if the shoulder strap comes off completely however you can always take it off the one shoulder and use the top as a basic bandeau when suntanning.

The cutouts add a little sexy suggestion to this black bikini without revealing too much skin. In addition to the cutouts the network element is black netting material that give the suit edgy texture and intrigue. The black strings are like basketball netting and it appears on the shoulder and hip which is hard to see in this photograph. It looks so hot!

The only serious problem with the one shoulder bikini or one piece swimsuit is that the tanning can be horrible. Wear plenty of sunscreen with this suit or sit in the shade. You don’t want a one shoulder tan. Definitely do not wear this suit to lie out in the sun days before you don your shoulder baring wedding dress!  Other than the potential tanning issue, it rocks!

This suit was featured on South Beach Swimsuits.  It’s a Becca 2012 network bikini. It has one shoulder strap with removable cups and adjustable removable swim strap and boning.  The bottom matches the top in styling and has the network detail and cutouts as well on the hip. This was one of the best sellers of 2011 and it carried over into 2012 as a keeper in the Becca line.
